Description

2006-01-19 Scoop the completed items off into an archive page of this job jar so that there is less baggage.
2006-01-19 Update the C000003, C000004, and C000005 to account for the license notice template element
2006-01-15 The C000003 to C000005 template descriptions are really ugly.  We need to rescue some of this into a construction note that provides the document engineering for these templates and simplifies the description.  This should make it easier to keep template versions, too.
2006-01-14 ODMdev has an anchor site dependency.  The anchor site is ODMA, generally. [dh:2006-01-20 Make the page that we need.  The only dependency should be from the front porch Construction Zone page.  Everything else should converge on that Construction Zone.]
2005-11-04 It is appropriate to discuss the anchor-page approach, the use of internal relative links, etc.  This is also a pattern.
2005-11-04 Warning: When files are automatically adjusted in a standalone FrontPage folder set, there is no synchronization with VSS.  That is why the entire VSS tree must be checked out when working with an off-line FrontPage web located in the file system (e.g., when taken traveling on a laptop).
2005-11-04 Document the Renaming, check-out game to get everything updated everywhere it is supposed to happen.
2005-11-04 Document: The table clean-up involves replacing style attributes with bgcolor attributes. Also, extraneous
elements (and
elements that do centering) can be removed.
2005-11-04 Document the use of table elements and the FrontPage options by which
elements and other automatic features are avoided.
2005-11-04 Document the use of timestamps at any update, so that it works through include pages.
2005-11-03 Make "What's An Orcmid" in folio C051101 on that topic, including its latest page into orcmid.htm.
2005-11-03 Every folder always has an index.htm page as part of the mandatory scaffolding.  That means when a web folder is mirrored off-line, that is the only page we can explicitly refer to as the home page of a folder.  (At the top I suppose there might be readme.htm also.)  I need to document this practice and figure out how we can do otherwise with only client-side functionality and no assurance that scripting is available.  I am curious about the possible use of HTA here, and also the prospect of ODMdev being recorded on a CD-ROM with Autoplay enabled.
2005-11-03 Document the mass working between VSS and FrontPage and another VSS for (1) making sure that local ODMdev changes in FrontPage are checked in and out of the local VSS properly and (2) synchronization with the "public" VSS is also handled properly, especially when going mobile and returning.  [dh:2005-11-03: There may be important use of FrontPage File | Import ... also.  This may be the way to get the material into another site.   I need to verify what happens when a page already exists, but is checked out.]
2005-11-03 The rel="nofollow" anchor tag attribute should be used on all interior construction links and links to the hosted sites from these materials.  We do not want these pages to show up as prominent link sources.  Enforce systematically during the building of ODMdev /construction and the other pages of ODMdev.
2005-11-03 Introduce the practice of every construction zone having a C000003c.htm that works as an include page.  This will always have the relative material work out properly.  The default include page will link to the construction-section as the nearest construction zone.
2005-11-02 Document the creation of VSS Admin options for the local ODMdev web folder.  This is Options | Web Projects as well as other settings.
2005-11-02 The use of import is important.  It allows the FrontPage extensions to note all links and dependencies and record the presence of the material in an appropriate way.
2005-11-02 For the internal FrontPage extensions of FrontPage 2003 to work, the permissions on the local "web" folder need to be set so that authors can modify the files and directories.
2005-11-02 Options for authoring ODMdev in FrontPage are set for client-side JScript as the most invasive.   To provide local mirroring, maybe even that must be avoided.  This is a how-to-use as well as how-to-construct.  Might be in Cyymmnn and Dyymmnn folios, for the separate purposes.
2005-11-02 Document FrontPage for editing text, HTML, ECMAscript, XML, and XSLT files.
2005-11-02 Document the two ways of using VSS to coordinate version control of FrontPage development of ODMdev and any MyProjects.  The standalone case works for taking ODMdev off-line for development and also for MyProjects.   The integrated case depends on using IIS, Visual Studio, or other tools that are VSS-aware.  There can be variants of this documentation for other version-control systems, especially CVS.
2005-11-01 Make sure that it is possible to rebuild all of ODMdev from VSS or other source control.  Document this requirement.  Translate into the different uses of ODMdev.
done 2006-01-21 Scoop material that is better followed-up as part of devNotes or other construction sections.
done
2006-01-21
2005-11-04 After the devKit catalog and diary are in place, move documentation items from here to the job jar there.
2006-01-21 2005-11-04 At home do a search on FrontPage and VSS integration, figuring out what else there is to deal with here. [dh:2006-01-21 There was no joy in terms of being able to integrate VSS automatically when working off-line with a local directory-stored web site.]
done
2006-01-21
2005-11-03 Make a new logo image for ODMdev and use it in the Title Block Image templates for ODMdev.
done 2006-01-21 Create a version of the ODMdev master logo for us as ODMdev-thumb at change the include pages to use it: C000003b, C000004b, and C000005b.

2006-01-20
2006-01-18 I'm a little concerned that the hard hat block on construction.htm goes to the anchor site.  I wonder if it should go to the front porch construction and that should go to the anchor site.  [dh:2006-01-19 Yes it should. Make it so.]
revoked
2006-01-20
2005-11-02 There is no anchor-site dependency in the ODMdev material.  The origin of the material is located by absolute URL and that's how it goes.   Likewise, because ODMdev is a sub-web, there are no upward links in the anchor block or anywhere else.  It will always be that way.
done 2006-01-19 After the Creative Commons License folio is in place, and we know what is on what pages and where we're talking about attribution, we can customize the C00000nf pages and implement notice.
done
2006-01-19
2006-01-13 When the Creative License is brought over, there can be a c00000nf entry the same way as for nfoWare.  I don't know if I will make it the default, so that needs to be thought out.  In particular, there are materials for which I might not be able to say that in the core, manager, and samples sections, maybe even other places.  [dh:2006-01-19 We make the license notice the default case.]
done 2006-01-19 Review the front porch
done 2006-01-19 Review the devNotes
done 2006-01-19 Review all of the top-level folder construction structures and construction zones
done 2006-01-19 Review all of the construction pages
done 2006-01-19 Review all of the template/00 pages for good fit of the "you are here" with license notice included
done 2006-01-19 Customize C000005f.  Hook it up to C000005d.
done 2006-01-19 Customize C000004f.   Hook it up to C000004d.
done 2006-01-19 Customize C000003f.   Hook it up to C000003d.
done 2006-01-19 Bring the repositioned C00000nf.htm pages from nfoWare construction/templates/00 and add them to the directory here.
done 2006-01-19 Bring over the ccby20.png image from nfoWare/images for use here.
done
2006-01-19
2006-01-15 Do an experiment with nfoWare /construction C000003 to see if these changes can be back-factored there. [dh:2006-01-19 Yes, it all worked and can be done on other sites.]

2006-01-18
2005-11-03 When ready to publish the current material to the development site on Compagno, we need to have these pages as completely ready to slide in place as a separate Compagno site, http://compagno/ODMdev.   That site will be shared into the VServers ODMA/dev substructure until such time as we move everything to nfoCentrale.  The swapping will require some checkout to Blocco ODMdev, using the existing structure, then check-in of the $/ODMdev material on the Compagno VSS.   The appropriate deletions, sharings, and Recalculation of Hyperlinks will bring it all over.  Then the material can be removed from the InfoNuovo images and handled  entirely from the ODMdev images, similar to how nfoCentrale is built from shared subwebs.
done 0.25 2006-01-18 Redo the anchor blocks and hard hat blocks to use the latest style conventions: C000000, C000001, construction, index, orcmid, templates/, templates/00/, 2005/, 2005/11/, and 2006
done 0.25
2006-01-18
2005-11-03 Customize this construction zone: index,  construction, C000000, C000001-log, and orcmid.htm as soon as the templates for construction structure (scaffolding) and construction material are completed.
done 0.25 2006-01-15 Repave 2005/11 and start 2006/ as at least a placeholder for flexing to future versions.
done 0.25
2006-01-15
2006-01-14 Do not link to index.htm files in anchor blocks.  Or do it only for construction structures and construction materials.   That makes sense for those, and not for standard pages, which should get the best default page available.  I don't like two sets of rules, and it means the hard case has to be handled anyhow.  [dh:2006-01-15 Here's the principle: Construction Structure anchor blocks link up the construction structure.  Construction Material anchor blocks link to the construction zone at a level, construction structure where there is no construction zone.  (This is a modest problem when a construction zone is introduced where there was not one before.)  For standard pages, the links are always to the folders, not particular pages, because we are looking for standard content, however it is made available.  Do this after the templates are completed on that model.
done 0.25 2006-01-15 Repave the template/ subtree after cleaning up the template/00/ content: C000005, C000004, C000003, index, template/index and then back to this /construction level.
done 0.25 2006-01-15 Repave construction.htm and index.htm here.
done 0.25
2006-01-15
2005-11-03 The new setup of the IncludePage templates are as follows: C00000n is the cover (formerly C00000nd), C00000na is the diary and job jar, C00000nb is the Title Image Block, C00000nc is the Construction Image Block, C00000nd is the You Are Here block, and C00000ne is the FrontPage Styles source.  Do for templates C000003, C000004, and C000005.
done 2006-01-14 Apply construction-material styles to C000001 (since this section is all construction material).
done 2006-01-13 Change c000003a to carry the new labeling "ODMdev: ActiveODMA Development Framework"
done 2006-01-13 Give Construction Material structure to this page.
done
2006-01-13
2005-11-02 Consider moving ODMA to a subweb on Compagno too, so that it is shared into the VServers image until such time as the big move is made.  Remember to handle the forms first.   If the form movement works, we can share it to VServers and then bCentral whenever we're ready.

2005-11-04
2005-11-03 Add index.htm files for construction/2005, and construction/2005/11 as soon as the Construction Structure template is usable.  The construction/construction.htm is the construction zone.  It can be identified as the Construction Office.  This can be reflected by using the Scaffolding Construction Block include page.
done
2005-11-04
2005-11-03 Add index.htm files for construction/template, and construction/template/00 as soon as the Construction Structure template is usable.  The construction/construction.htm is the construction zone.  It can be identified as the Construction Office.  This can be reflected by using the Scaffolding Construction Block include page.
done
2005-11-04
2005-11-03 Create index.htm pages to cover ODMdev /images and ODMdev /_private as soon as the scaffolding template is in place.
done 2005-11-04 Add timestamp and revision history to C000001-log page.
done 2005-11-04 Review all time stamps on current materials and set them for always updating on all changes (so that Include pages work properly).  Perpetuate in customization of further materials.  C000000, C000001, C000003, 00/index.htm
done 2005-11-04 We are no longer on (pdt).  Correct the Created on and As of material on all pages customized so far: C000000, C000001, C000003, template/00/index, and then remember to use pst on all further customizations.
done 2005-11-04 Review all current material for proper usage of the ODMdev: ActiveODMA Development Kit: C000000, C000001, C000003, all titles as we clean up and review other materials.
done 2005-11-04 Review all tables included so far and make sure that all shading is done by cell backgrounds and not
elements: C000000, C000001-log, C000003a [use as template for more]
done 2005-11-04 Rename C000001-log to C000001 plain.  Also in VSS and in current up-links in headings (C000003 files, the index.htm, etc.). [dh:2005-11-04 Remember not to do this with a checked-out material.  Check in, then rename both places, check out in FrontPage so that VSS check-out sees a writeable version before the final check-out from VSS.]
done 2005-11-03 Customize template C000003 to provide the new Include Pages for Construction Structure (minimal scaffolding).
done 2005-11-03 Check all of the ODMdev construction/ section materials into VSS project $/ODMdev too
done 2005-11-03 Check all of the ODMdev construction/templates/00 into VSS project $/ODMdev
done 2005-11-03 Import TROST InfoNote i000006a and rename as the C000003a, C000004a, and C000005a.
done 2005-11-03 Rename  the C000003, C000004, and C000005 structures to match the new model.  (This leaves C00000na vacant.)
done 2005-11-03 Incorporate all notes from #48.91-.96 that pertain to creation and customization of ODMdev with a standalone structure.
done 2005-11-03 Configure Site Settings for ODMdev on Blocco and confirm that there is no VSS integration.  I will have to use mass check-out and the detection of read-only by FrontPage to warn me that I am not working with a checked-out copy.
done 2005-11-03 Start using C000000.htm for the spiraling of the construction structure and section content.   The page will have missing inclusions until the Construction Material template is completed.
done 2005-11-02 Import the construction zone, catalog, and orcmid.htm into ODMdev /construction
done 2005-11-02 Verify customization of C000003a for use from the templates/00 location and demonstrate its proper operation
done 2005-11-02 Incorporate all of the template pages from ODMA.info construction under ODMdev /construction/templates/00 in FrontPage
done 2005-11-02 Create ODMdev construction/2005/11 for the construction folios that apply to site construction, to be populated slowly following population of the templates.
done 2005-11-02 Create ODMdev construction/templates/00 for the templates used in site construction, to be populated slowly.
done 2005-11-02 Confirm that relative image URLs and image links in an Include Page are always adjusted to the target context to refer to the same locations as they do from the location of the Include Page.
done 2005-11-02 Add a construction folder under ODMdev
done 0.15 2005-11-02 ODMdev.bat VSS labeling is confirmed
done
2005-11-02
2005-10-31 Make sure .bat is in the VSS extensions that can have labels.
done 2005-11-02 Populate the standard web-site ODMdev /images/ folder with hardhat-thumb.gif and ODMA-thumb.gif for intial use as images on ODMdev pages.
done 2005-11-02 Install FrontPage 2003 and configure it to use c:\crea\ODMdev as a local filesystem web site with FrontPage extensions.  This does not appear to provide for coordination with VSS, however.
done 2005-10-28 Install Visual Source Safe for local operation and cycling between synchronizations with the development IIS server on Compagno.  Confirm connectivity with Compagno VSS.  Snapshots are in c:\Blocco\VSS.
done 2005-10-30 Create c:\crea\ODMdev for development of a standalone version of the ODMdev area on Blocco.  The resulting structure will allow standalone mirroring of ODMdev and use of it as a versioned base in  development of derivative materials.
Revision History:
0.25 2006-01-15-14:35 Complete Repaving of Construction Zone in New Approach
This construction office is repaved to honor all of the new ideas being used for ODMdev that will then be perpetuated to the rest of ODMdev.  Propogation to other sites will occur incrementally on an opportunistic basis.
0.00 2005-11-03-10:26 Customization of ODMdev Construction Structure
This Construction Office Diary & Job Jar is adapted from the construction section of the ODMA.info site.   This diary accounts for the bootstrapping of ODMdev as part of packaging for standalone mirroring and use by ActiveODMA participants.  This is the first application of TROST folio and template patterns to creation of and accounting for construction structure.
