Although there was an informal announcement of TROST, the dissertation project on 2005-03-11, in looking at this from a project point of view, there are more activities that fall under the category of announcement. There are announcement events that arise as part of broader engagement, too, as well as when progress occurs and results are available to be announced. Here we are concerned with the announcement actions around the initiation. There is a small wave of these, inviting awareness and observation of the extended engagement.

1. Approach (2005-04-11)

Have a summary description that can be used as the home-page or fact sheet on TROST and what is happening with it.

Have a simple announcement that the activity is commencing. Place it on the SourceForge TROST project as well. Make sure there is something that people can look at. Discuss it on blogs.

Make clear what will be next and when that will be available. The engagement activity should be deepened enough to be confident in when that will occur and how it will become visible before making further announcements.

2. Activities (2005-04-30)

2005-01-30: Obtain Domain Names. TROSTing.org is placed in initial use. Others reserved for future use.

2005-03-11: Informal Announcement. I was itching to throw down some kind of gauntlet. I blogged it.

2005-04-11: Initiation. Prepare this project folio as a place holder. Build the initial job jar.

2005-04-30: Establish Work Items for elements of the approach and for the identified outputs.

Complete when these actions are concluded and the conditions of satisfaction are achieved with them.
