This is the Construction Zone for the Orcmid's Lair /
root section.
Activities in this construction zone are identified in the Construction
Diary and Job Jar. The change history is no longer maintained
here.
For further information on the construction approach and the
practices for achieving consistent construction of Orcmid's Lair, go to the construction
shack here.
Change History
- 2004-08-22-22:03 Convert to standard Construction
Zone
- A Construction Diary and Job Jar is used to carry further notes,
and this change history is ended.
- 2004-02-05-12:08 Conform to current construction-structure style (orcmid)
- The pages at the root level of Orcmid's Lair are updated to conform to the
current approach to Construction Structure and HTML 4.01 conformance.
Some of the history, below, is now obsoleted by these changes. I am
not worrying about that for now. The immediate purpose is to
have the entrance and some portions needed in support of current projects
brought into conformance as quickly as possible.
- 2002-10-13-15:31 Minimal Cloaking Accommodation (orcmid)
- The minimal cloaking accommodation is implemented throughout
orcmid.com
.
More information on the technique and experience with it is in the
Construction Section. [dh:2004-08-22 Cloaking has been abandoned
because it interferes with too many ordinary functions.]
- 2002-10-12-16:39 Accommodate Cloaked Access (orcmid)
- 1. Orcmid's Lair is now hosted on
nfoCentrale.net
,
being mostly migrated from InfoNuovo.com
. There is
further tombstoning to complete before completely abandoning the InfoNuovo.com
image. Having cloaking will be a help with that.
2. All absolute links must be adjusted to use target=_top
as a way of slipping out of the cloak and slipping into a new one or
reflecting a specific context in the current one.
3. I am not thrilled with the incoherence of cloaking. I will do what
is expedient here but long for a stronger solution.
- 2001-11-29-14:22 Make Independent Orcmid's Lair (orcmid)
- Although it may not seem like much change to visitors to
infonuovo.com
,
the Orcmid's Lair section is now part of an independent group that has no
dependency on the anchor site (root web) where it is situated. This
facilitates mirroring of the Orcmid's Lair group (including The Miser
Project) on a variety of media and also allows a single "source"
of Orcmid's Lair to be taken wherever the Lair is hosted.
-
- 2001-11-05-22:36 Create separate construction shack for Orcmid's Lair (orcmid)
- As part of theme preparation, a separate construction section was added
for Orcmid's Lair. There will also be a separate images folder, so
that Orcmid's Lair can be maintained autonomously from NuovoDoc. It is not clear that the overall site should be
NuovoDoc Centrale, so there is more to work out in the restructuring.
-
- 2001-05-10-14:05 Make Construction Structure more usable (orcmid)
- I added links to
index.htm
so that this area can
be navigated even when there is no non-construction (i.e., default.htm
)
entrance to the area.
-
- 2001-05-10-13:57 Change identity of section to orcmid (orcmid)
- I began a systematic change that provides for mirroring of this site or
portions thereof under different domain names.
1. This supports possible transition from infonuovo.com to nuovodoc.com in a
direct manner. I own both domain names, one as a business, the other
as a location-free web presence.
2. Relativizing all of the sections It also supports introduction of
orcmid.com, perhaps something to do with Miser or Frugal, and mirroring as
part of DMware.
3. The headings and references are also shorter in the text of
construction-structure pages.
4. This change raises special considerations when there are non-relative
links in material to support it being mirrored on a hard drive or other
web-page structure independent of the overall site. Generally,
construction structure pages must be excluded from such special
sub-collections (e.g., ODMA documentation sets and the DMA
specification). I will begin increasing the use of relative references
except in pages which are specifically designed to be used in off-line
subcollections. These materials will generally be identified in some
way to indicate support for off-line usability.
-
- 2001-04-08-17:11 Substitute NuovoDoc Centrale Identity (orcmid)
- This section of NuovoDoc Centrale is updated to use the correct
identification and images.
-
- 2000-05-03-13:15 Correct links and check spellings (orcmid)
- 1. Corrected broken link to Hard Hat Area from index.htm of this project,
so that it refers to this construction log and not that in the home
directory (up one level).
2. Reviewed spelling on index.htm and in this log.
- 2000-04-15-23:29 Create orcmid Project & Construction Log (orcmid)
- 1. The orcmid project was created and the existing resume, readings, and
writings folders brought under it for a cleaner interim organization.
-
2. I established an index.htm and this construction.log to provide the
initial construction structure.
3. It appears that the moves made in the Development Site under FrontPage
2000 are not reflected in Visual Source Safe. I don't know what is
going on there.
2000-04-18 (orcmid): I figured it out. There were two different SourceSafe
databases on the Centro development system and FrontPage 2000 was using a different one than I was expecting to
see changes in. This material is now being edited on Compagno, where
there is only one SourceSafe database and no problems. Problems of
backups not being portable to other databases need to be worked out. I
don't have adequate mobility of projects among the computer systems of
NuovoDoc Centrale.
