         IDENTIFICATION OF ACCEPTABLE LICENSE FOR ODMA REDISTRIBUTION

From time to time there are requests for information about redistribution and
any license requirements for the ODMA software.  The response has always been
that there are no limitations on the distribution or packaging of ODMA.

One commercial firm that intends to use ODMA code in a product has asked for
a clear statement of their right to do so, with preference for an explicit
statement of license.
         
On 2004-06-17 Dennis Hamilton responded to a request for a redistribution 
license for ODMA with the following question:

    "What would be the minimum you need to 
     not feel stuck or exposed?"

On 2004-08-16 the contact at the commercial firm returned the following
suggestion.

    "If this license works for the author, 
     it would work well for us.  It is
     a version of the BSD license, 
     very widely used:
